Verizon Enlists Employees, Customers to Assist Victims of Oklahoma Tornadoes

Verizon is calling on its employees and customers to join in assisting the victims of the May 19-20 tornadoes that swept through the Oklahoma City area.  Verizon has committed $100,000 in grants to disaster relief in the area, and the Verizon Foundation will provide a 1-to-1 match of employee online donations (from $25 up to $1,000 per employee) to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Responding to Great Need in Oklahoma City

The Oklahoma City area has weathered two straight days of horrific weather, with fatal tornadoes in Shawnee and surrounding areas on May 19, and a historic twister that devastated much of Moore on May 20. The need for disaster relief is great, and Verizon is stepping up in response.  The company has committed $100,000 to disaster relief in the area, and the Verizon Foundation will provide a 1-to-1 match of employee online donations (from $25 up to $1,000 per employee) to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Verizon Maryland LLC to Redeem 7.15% Debentures, Due May 1, 2023

Verizon Communications Inc. today announced that its subsidiary, Verizon Maryland LLC, will redeem the entire outstanding principal amount of its $250,000,000 7.15% Debentures, due May 1, 2023 (CUSIP 165069 AS4) (the “Securities”).  The redemption date for the Securities will be June 17, 2013 (the “Redemption Date”).

Verizon: Rules for Railroads Don’t Track With the Policy Needs of 21st Century Telecom Technologies

Verizon’s new head of public policy outlined the framework policymakers in Washington should consider in modernizing the nation’s outdated telecom rules and regulations.   Verizon believes that obsolete and unnecessary rules – some of which date back to the late 1800s, and were written for the railroads and to create the Interstate  Commerce Commission – work against innovation and investment in the Internet ecosystem.

Verizon Wireless Announces $ 7.0 Billion Distribution To Verizon And Vodafone In June

Verizon Wireless today announced that its Board of Representatives has declared a distribution to its owners, payable on June 25, 2013, in proportion to their partnership interests on that date, in the aggregate amount of $7.0 billion. Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc., which owns 55 percent of the partnership, and Vodafone Group Plc, which owns 45 percent of the partnership.
