Verizon High Speed Internet (HSI) Fact Sheet

Verizon broadband customers total 8.5 million as of 1Q, 2011, with more than 4.2 million of them enjoying HSI reliability, plan variety, special-feature services and 24/7 technical support.
Enabled by digital subscriber line (DSL) technology and first offered in 1998, Verizon HSI service is the company's most widely available form of broadband, offered to more than 80 percent of all residential customers and small businesses.
Verizon's fastest HSI service, 15 Mbps, is available to more than 4 million homes in 12 states and the District of Columbia.
Speed Offerings
Verizon HSI service is offered in the following downstream and upstream connection speed configurations:

Consumers who qualify for service from 1.1 Mbps and higher are provisioned at the highest speed possible at the same price point (for both stand-alone or bundled service).
The Verizon HSI network is 99.99 percent reliable, based on current Verizon HSI network availability statistics. Verizon HSI customers report fewer outages and service issues than Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Cablevision and Brighthouse customers, according to a ChangeWave Research report based on an August 2010 Internet Service Provider survey and on reporting of ISP outages and service issues among a panel of educated consumers.
In addition, J.D. Power and Associates' 2010 annual broadband customer satisfaction study ranked Verizon as the top Internet Service Provider in the South region, outscoring all other competitors in overall satisfaction. Verizon ranked highest in performance and reliability, cost of service, offerings and promotions, and billing.
HSI speeds are between a customer's location and the Verizon central office serving that home or small-business location. Actual download and upload speeds will vary based on numerous factors, such as the condition of wiring at one's location, computer configuration, Internet and network congestion and the speed of Website servers one accesses, among other factors.
Verizon HSI is a dedicated data service. This means customers get a dedicated connection to the Verizon central office and don't share their data connection with anyone else -- unlike cable modems and Wi-Fi, which are shared connections.
Pricing
Pricing plans for Verizon's 500 Kbps to 1 Mbps service begin at $19.99 per month ($14.99 when ordered online at www.verizon.com) with Verizon voice service or $34.99 ($29.99 online) for speeds above 1.1 Mbps, again with a Verizon voice service plan. There are no contract requirements or early-termination fees for new customers ordering HSI service.
So-called "dry-loop" service (with no wireline voice component) is priced at $29.99 per month ($24.99 per month online) or $44.99 per month ($39.99 per month online), respectively.
