CAREERS & the disABLED magazine readers have once again voted Verizon among the top 50 employers for which they would most like to work, or that they believe would provide a progressive environment for people with disabilities.

CivilianJobs.com has named Verizon to the Web site’s 2011 list of Most Valuable Employers for Military. CivilianJobs.com cited Verizon's commitment to recruiting and retaining employing active and retired members of the U.S. military.

Computerworld has ranked Verizon Wireless No. 5 on the publication's 2011 list, Best Places to Work in IT. The annual list is based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention as well as extensive surveys of IT workers. This is the ninth straight year Verizon Wireless has been named to the list. The company was once again the highest-ranked wireless provider.

Corporate Responsibility magazine has named Verizon to the publication's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, for the fourth consecutive year. The magazine annually evaluates companies in the Russell 1000 index of large-cap companies, ranking them on their performance in seven key areas: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, finance and corporate governance. Verizon received its highest scores in the areas of corporate governance and corporate philanthropy, and ranked No. 56 overall this year.

DiversityBusiness.com has ranked Verizon No. 8 on the site’s 2011 list of Top 50 Companies for Multicultural Business Opportunities. The companies on this list were selected in an annual poll of minority and women-owned suppliers, based upon factors including volume, consistency and quality of business initiatives that a company grants to multicultural suppliers.

DiversityInc magazine has named Verizon to the publication’s list of Top 50 Companies for Diversity, for the eleventh consecutive year. The list ranks the Top 50 companies for consistent strength in four areas: CEO commitment, human capital, corporate and organizational communications, and supplier diversity. Verizon ranked No. 22 this year, and is the only company to have twice earned the No. 1 spot.

G.I. Jobs magazine has named Verizon to the publication’s Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers List for 2012. This recognition is the latest in a series of honors Verizon has received for its long-standing commitment to recruiting, hiring and supporting military veterans.

HispanicBusiness.com has ranked Verizon No. 2 on the publication’s Diversity Elite 60 List for 2011. This is the seventh year Verizon has made the list. The 60 organizations were evaluated and ranked according to their performance on more than 32 variables that measure commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.

LATINA Style magazine has ranked Verizon No. 8 in the Latina Style 50, the publication’s annual list of the best U.S. companies for Latinas to work. This is the ninth consecutive year that the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion has been recognized by the publication.

Military Spouse magazine named Verizon to the 2012 America’s Top 20 Military Spouse-Friendly Employers list. Companies were assessed on a number of criteria including recruitment, hiring practices, retention and policies, and programs in place to help address challenges that military life can bring.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has once again named Verizon to the organization’s 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list. Companies were assessed on criteria including financial reimbursement per adoption, and leaves of absence.

The National Association for Female Executives has named Verizon to the organization’s NAFE Top 50 Companies and 10 Nonprofits for Executive Women. This is the seventh consecutive year that Verizon has been named to the list.

The National Business Group on Health has honored Verizon with the NBGH Award for Innovation in Reducing Health Care Disparities. The inaugural award reflects Verizon’s continuing commitment to reducing racial and ethnic health care disparities in the workplace and for supporting a diverse workplace.

Training magazine has ranked Verizon No. 3 on the publication's annual Top 125 list of companies that have the best corporate training programs for employees. The magazine cited Verizon’s increased use of social media and electronic learning and development platforms.

Working Mother Magazine has ranked Verizon No. 11 on the publication’s 2011 list of Best Companies for Multicultural Women. The annual list recognizes companies dedicated to promoting advancement of multicultural women within their organizations. Verizon has been recognized for six straight years.

Working Mother Magazine also ranked Verizon among the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers. This is the 11th consecutive year that Verizon has been named to the publication’s annual list, which honors companies that have family-friendly benefits and policies that help working mothers strike a balance between their work and their personal lives.
