Ellen Corcoran
General Manager – New England Region
Verizon Telecom

Ellen Corcoran is general manager - New England Region for Verizon Telecom. She is responsible for network operations, service delivery, sales and local marketing for four million consumer and general business customers in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Prior to this position, she was senior vice president - National Sales for Verizon's Retail Markets organization, responsible for consumer and small business retail sales across Verizon. She was responsible for revenue growth, customer retention, customer care, new channel innovation, e-commerce service, off-line support, performance assurance and employee excellence.

Prior to the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, Ms. Corcoran served as vice president - Consumer Sales and Service for Bell Atlantic. In that role, she drove strong incremental growth in strategic products, surpassed sales targets, overcame key operational challenges, and created a new vision to stimulate future growth.

Since joining NYNEX Business Information Systems in 1985, Ms. Corcoran has held positions as vice president - Operations Reviews/Performance Assurance; vice president - Operations Excellence, Consumer Markets; managing director - Residence Sales; director - Market Development; as well as numerous management positions at New England Telephone.

Ms. Corcoran has also held various marketing and sales positions in other industries, as well as teaching positions in Language Arts and Dramatic Arts.

Ms. Corcoran holds a BA in English from Regis College, a MAT in Education/English from Brown University and a M.B.A. in Marketing/Management from Boston College, all of which were achieved with honors and awards.

Ms. Corcoran is a board member of the New York City based New Dramatists, a non-profit organization founded more than 50 years ago to identify and support talented playwrights. She holds memberships in the YMCA Academy of Women Achievers, American Women's Economic Development Association, and Women in Cable & Communications. She is a member of the Boston College, Brown University, and Regis College Alumnae Associations. She has received numerous awards throughout her career. She is recognized as an industry expert and has been interviewed by the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. In addition, she has been featured in career-related articles in Good Housekeeping, Customer Interface and Call Center.
