Tom Roche is the vice president of marketing for business data products, supporting all Verizon business channels. Tom has profit and loss responsibility for legacy, advanced, and emerging network product portfolios. The products developed and supported by Tom are comprised of Private IP, Ethernet, Optical, fast packet, private line, application awareness tools, Business FiOS, DSL, Internet, and satellite/wireless broadband services. In his 27 years in the communications and networking industry, Tom has been instrumental in bringing advanced networking technologies to the marketplace.
Prior to the Verizon/MCI merger Tom was the executive director, Advanced Services for Verizon's Enterprise Marketing group, where he drove the development of advanced data, voice, and managed solutions for large business customers. Products included metro-Ethernet, IPVPN, VoIP, Hosted IP Communications, Internet Access, Storage, Security, and managed services.
In 1979, Tom began his career with the former GTE Company in California as an installer of voice and data services. Since that time he has held positions as voice and data systems engineer, field engineering manager, sales engineering manager, marketing manager, director of CPE and Managed Services, and director of Fast Packet & Emerging Services.
Tom has also worked as director of international data services with the AT&T and British Telecom joint venture known as Concert. During his two years at Concert, Tom developed data networking services and associated network management capabilities for Global National customers seeking a single supplier for their global networking requirements. Tom returned to Verizon in 2002 where he became responsible for frame relay, ATM, Internet services, VPN services, and metro Ethernet.
Mr. Roche is involved in a number of industry forums, panels, and analyst engagements and can be traced though the industry via speaking engagements on advanced technologies. He holds a bachelors degree in Management from Dallas Baptist University and a graduate certificate in Executive Management from the Anderson School at UCLA.
Tom lives in the Dallas Metroplex with his wife, and has two grown daughters.
