In this role, she is responsible for design, delivery, and maintenance for the business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS) infrastructure, product development, and data centers that support Verizon Business on a global basis. She has held this position since the launch of Verizon Business in January 2006, following the acquisition of MCI by Verizon Communications.

Prior to this, between 2002 and 2005, Spitz worked for the company as senior vice president for Network and National Operations Systems. Between 1998 and 2000, Spitz worked at Bell Atlantic as executive director and then vice president of the Network Systems Advanced Technology group where she delivered the company’s first suite of server-based operating support systems.

Prior to this, she worked as technical director of the Speech Technology Group for NYNEX, having begun her career there as a member of the technical staff just two years earlier in 1986. As technical director, she was responsible for delivering advanced call center automation platforms.

Prior to joining the company, Spitz was a research associate at The City University of New York in the Center for Research in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She served as an adjunct professor at Hunter College for six years.

CIO Magazine put Spitz on its ‘Ones to Watch’ list in 2005 and Computerworld named her to the CIO 100 Honoree list in 2007. She has received Verizon Communications’ Quality and Excellence Awards three times. Spitz is a member of the Pace University Department of Computer Science and Information Systems Advisory Board and is an American Red Cross board member covering the Greater New York area.
