Previously, Spitz served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Verizon Business, a position she held since that company’s launch in January 2006. In this role, she was responsible for the support systems, product development, and production support for Verizon Business worldwide.
Between 2002 and 2005, Spitz served as senior vice president for network and national operations systems where she delivered the suite of systems that enabled Verizon to launch its high-speed, residential fiber optic service (FiOS).
Spitz began her career in the telecommunications industry in 1986 at NYNEX as a member of the technical staff and then as a technical director of the Speech Technology group where she delivered advanced call center automation platforms.
Prior to joining NYNEX, Spitz was a research associate at The City University of New York in the Center for Research in Speech and Hearing Sciences and served as an adjunct professor at
InfoWorld named Spitz as a 2009 CTO 25 award winner. Computerworld magazine named her to its CIO 100 Honoree list in 2007 and CIO Magazine placed Spitz on its ‘Ones to Watch’ list in 2005. She has received Verizon Communications’ Quality and Excellence Awards three times. Spitz is a member of the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems Advisory Board at
