Verizon FiOS TV Customers Don't Miss a Thing With Remote DVR Programming

Customers Can Remotely Control Their Home Media DVRs Online or via Select Verizon Wireless Handsets

News Release

January 8, 2009 –

NEW YORK - Verizon FiOS TV customers now have the option to remotely control their Home Media DVRs either online or via select Verizon Wireless handsets.  On-the-go FiOS TV subscribers can use the service to remotely review, change or add recording requests, delete recorded programs, browse and search TV and video-on-demand listings, set parental controls, and more.

"FiOS TV customers can now reach out and touch their Home Media DVRs wherever they go," said Shawn Strickland, vice president of FiOS products for Verizon. "Imagine the convenience of setting parental controls from your PC at the office, or using your cell phone to schedule a show for recording while you're away on vacation.  This is the kind of freedom, flexibility and control that FiOS TV uniquely delivers."

Customers can access the remote control service through Verizon's FiOS TV Web site (www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral) or by using downloadable software on their Verizon Wireless LG enV2, LG Voyager or LG Chocolate 2 handsets. The wireless remote DVR capability will become available on additional Verizon Wireless handsets in the future.

These services are provided at no additional charge to FiOS TV customers who subscribe to Verizon's unique Home Media DVR, which allows customers to use one DVR to record programming that can then be watched on up to six other TV sets in the home.  This includes simultaneously viewing up to three separately recorded programs on different TV sets, and the ability to pause recorded programming on one set and continue watching it on another.

Only FiOS TV is delivered over the nation's most advanced fiber-optic network straight to customers' homes and businesses.

The service offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500 all-digital channels and 14,000 VOD titles each month - 8,500 are free of charge.  Verizon's industry-leading VOD library also includes more than 1,200 HD titles per month.  FiOS TV is currently available to more than 8.2 million homes in 14 states.

FiOS TV's Home Media DVR is bundled with Media Manager, a feature that allows customers to access photos and music from their personal computers and play them on their TV or home theater system.
