More Internet-Connected Devices In Use Simultaneously, Yet Not Enough Broadband? How Do You Spell Relief?

Many of our customers feel the need for speed.  And for more than 5 million strong, relief is spelled FiOS.

Last summer, when we introduced our faster FiOS Internet service tiers known as FiOS Quantum, many jumped at the opportunity to increase their speeds.  The new speeds feature download/upload tiers of 50/25, 75/35, 150/65 and 300/65 megabits per second (Mbps).  In other words, incredibly fast as compared to many other forms of broadband.

In the past year, several broadband-dependent trends have continued to take off like a rocket.  Most notably, we’re seeing a steady rise in the number of Internet-connected devices owned by members of a household (seven now, and rising to 12 in a few years), using those devices at the same time (4 now and growing) and streaming video at a record clip.

While all these trends are good for the industry, the combination of the factors has revealed that some consumers are actually lagging in upgrading their broadband speed as the number of digital devices used in their household begins to outpace their broadband level.

So what’s a broadband hungry household on a budget to do?

We suggest consumers not yet using our FiOS Quantum speeds move up in speed.  And to help, we’re making the process very quick and simple.

Starting today, all existing FiOS Internet customers can upgrade to our entry level FiOS Quantum tier of 50/25 Mbps tier for just $10 more a month and keep the speed for as long as they wish.

For comparison purposes, customers could spend $10 and buy some of my personal favorites -- two of the largest sized white chocolate mocha frappuccinos at Starbucks (one for me, and one for my wife) or a typical lunch from Panera Bread where I ate two weeks ago.

For an additional $10 per month, customers can get our high-performing, consistently reliable, FiOS Quantum 50/25 Mbps service recently recognized in the FCC broadband performance test report.  And in the process, they’ll get a household of happy campers who can use a variety of Internet-connected devices to their heart’s content.

We’ve made upgrading to FiOS Quantum easy, affordable and empowering.

EASY:  We’ve created a variety of simple and fast steps that customers can follow to upgrade to Quantum 50/25 Mbps:

  • Go to FiOS TV channel 500, and with two simple “OK” clicks, customers can upgrade their broadband service as shown in the embedded video.
  • Visit www.verizon.com/fiosquantum50 and with two clicks, customers will have FiOS Quantum speed.
  • Use the MyFiOS app, and execute two taps on the touch screen to start enjoying FiOS Quantum service.

No technician visit is required. There’s no need to contact Verizon on the phone. When upgrading to FiOS Quantum, customers do not have to change to a new bundle or move to a new TV package.

We’re offering real-time service that allows for customers to enjoy their faster Internet service within an hour of placing an order without any change in equipment.  On a customer’s monthly bill, they will see one line clearly showing the $10 additional charge.

AFFORDABLE:  For just $10 per month, customers can improve the speed of their Internet connection anywhere from 2 to 16 times faster than their current service.  There is no time commitment required, nor extra or hidden charges.  Customers can enjoy FiOS Quantum 50/25 Mbps service for as long as they want.

EMPOWERING:  As members of the household browse the Internet, stream videos, upload photos or large files, watch FiOS TV channels on their iPad, xBox gaming console or Samsung or LG Smart TVs, shop, or play video games simultaneously, they’ll get superior reliability because their data needs will be well cared for by our FiOS Quantum 50/25 Mbps service.
